  4. What is a digital painting? How does it differ from a traditional oil painting?

Digital paintings use a digital art brush(stylus) on a digital canvas(wacom tablet).

Traditional painting involve oils, acrylics, watercolors and other fine art materials to create painting on canvas or paper.
Chris Koonce the artist has over thirty years experience in doing fine art portraits.

The biggest difference is the creative process. If art were created using real oils and canvas the time required to allow the
paint to dry and then to make a print is very time consuming and expensive. In order to make a print the oil painting is scanned
into a computer then printed on to a canvas. Some loss of detail and quality is lost in the scanning process.

Painting directly into the computer eliminates the scanning processing and drying time it takes for real oils to dry on canvas.
No loss of detail or quality due to the scanning process being eliminated.

The advantage to the customer is a digital painting looks like a traditional museum quality painting that took months to create!
The hand painted digital painting is produced much faster and at a reasonable price.

  5. What is a Giclee Print?

Giclee Printing is the highest quality digital printing available for fine artist. Printers use a quality digital ink printed on a high grade
canvas. Giclee prints will last a lifetime. More art galleries, art collectors and museums are collecting Giclee prints and
recognizing them as original works of art.

Another great advantage to the client is that they are able to order multiple copies of the same painting for family and friends.

  6. Will the painting fade?

We only use the materials and quality inks that will last a lifetime. All things however will fade if exposed to direct
sunlight so we encourage you to hang your painting away from direct sunlight.

  7. What kind of photo should I send and how?

The better the photo the better the painting. Chris can not create what he can not see. A clear focused photo with the subject
taking up 3/4 of the photo works best. Please limit 1-3 subjects in one painting but anymore and the detail becomes to small
to work with, We prefer to work with just head shots. You may e-mail the file but ONLY at a high resolution of
300dpi or higher with a file size of 1MB or bigger. You can send a photo disc or the photo itself. Photo’s should be 5x7 or larger.
Click here for photo tips and e-mailing photos.
