I
start first with a good photograph. I will crop and resize
the photo in photoshop creating a composition that will make
a great painting. |
Art
is created by digitally hand painting each stroke by using
an electronic stylus that simulates brush
strokes on a wacom tablet (digital canvas) |
|
|
 |
 |
The
first step is to hand sketch the subject in detail using the
wacom tablet and painting software. |
The
second step is to fill in areas with blocks of color. I always
start with the eyes and nose.... |
|
|
 |
 |
The
third step is to fill in the rest of the areas with blocks
of color that I can build up on giving depth. |
The
fourth step is to start adding detail on top of the first
layer of colors that was laid down. |
|
|
 |
 |
The
fifth step is to continue adding details and colors to the
painting bring out texture and depth. |
The
final step is knowing when to quit. Too much detail will take
away from the art style. |
|

The painting
take several days to complete and at certain stages I stop
and start another painting. I then will come back to the
painting the following day with fresh eyes and will notice
changes that need to be made. Once the painting is approved
by the client then the digital file is sent off to the printer.
The printing of the Giclee art can take 5-10 business days.
The portraits are printed using archival quality
inks onto a textured canvas that will last a lifetime. The
canvas print is known as a Giclee print.
All artwork comes with a money back guarantee and digitally
signed by me, Chris Koonce-Artist.
